CANUCKS ALUMNI FOUNDATION LUNCHEON

SALUTING THE 1982 STANLEY CUP FINALISTS ON NOVEMBER 18 2021

Presented by Pooni Group at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

A trip down memory lane celebrating the Vancouver Canucks historic ‘Towel Power’ run to the 1982 Stanley Cup Final is in store for hockey fans at a unique fund-raising luncheon Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

Presented by the Pooni Group in support of the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Foundation, the two-hour event from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. will include several players from the 1981-82 Canucks team that captured the hearts of hockey fans from coast-to-coast.

The King himself –goaltender Richard Brodeur – will be joined by the likes of Stan Smyl, Darcy Rota, Thomas Gradin, Harold Snepsts, BJ MacDonald, Garth Butcher and others who captivated the imagination of the hockey world in the fall of ’82 under head coach Roger Neilson.

The feisty Canucks eliminated first Calgary, then Los Angeles and finally Chicago before ending their remarkable run in the Stanley Cup Championship Final to the star-spangled New York Islanders.

Those amazing memories will be re-lived at the November 18 luncheon in support of mental health programs and hockey scholarships throughout British Columbia as well as the Boys and Girls Club of South Coast BC.  A special Hot Stove/Roast session will be hosted by Terrace-born comedian Ian Bagg who has appeared on The Tonight Show, The Late Show, HBO and was a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing.
